It hurts to read of the division in their friendship (and writing group), but it also shows how human they were and how they too made mistakes.

We writer myths… because our hearts were written by a mythmaker.

I am curious about how exactly their experiences in WWI would translate to elements of their writing. Like I don’t even think about how the trenches influenced the Dead Marshes in LOTR.
