There was an example of pathos when the parents broke the news that their daughter was adopted.

I just am not a huge fan of Darian. She was way too quick to blame Riley for her mother's death. Of course, I can see how she might have been jealous, but she just won't let it go.

I love Columbia's tradition when she finishes books, and I appreciated the allusion to Romancing the Stone--watched that as a kid, too, and dreamed of being an author.
