In between the pages 10-19 i read that Ponyboy, still stunned from the most recent fight with socs and johnny's death.
He had robbed a shop and that had provoked the police by pulling out an unloaded gun leading his shooting by the police. Ponyboy, overwhelmed by these occuring events, he collapses and is hospitalized with a concussion.
