Finished Book I: Orb. Loved the creepy imagery and dark tone. So far, all the different threads are intriguing and I’m getting a sense of why Darujhistan felt so off the last we saw it in MBotF. This book would probably be in the horror genre if it wasn’t epic fantasy.

End of Book II: Sceptre. What a way to end, such a vivid and brutal battle. Malazan features some of the most realistic and brutal battles I’ve read in fantasy and Esslemont continues the tradition in his books.
