So far in the story we have met a jewish boy named Yanek, a boy who lives in Poland during WW2. Yanek's town was taken over by the Nazis and he has barley any food. The Nazis constanley raid the flats for valuables, so much so that Yanek and his parents moved to the roof so they would not be raided again. Currently Yanek is in the basement of an abandoned warehouse, doing his 13th birthday ritual to be an adult.

In the end Yanek actually survived everything. He was saved by US soldiers and was brought to a recovery camp. After a few days he found out he still had a living cousin, who told Yanek to go to America. In America Yanek Married, had kids and is still alive today. He goes around with his wife Ruth and shares their experiences in the camps for crowds to hear.

So far Yanek has been transferred from camp to camp, been in cattle train cars for days, and even walked in the freezing cold for weeks at a time. Yanek is slowly dying from a lack of food and he's gotten so desperate that he's started to ask Kapos for food, even ones that tried to kill him in the past. Currently a man tattled on Yanek for pretending to be a Pole, and Yanek might be killed for this.

So far Yanek has been transferred from camp to camp and does intense labor every single day. Yanek met the man who originally broke into his flat with the Nazis and stole his mother's ring, and that same man was later killed since other prisoners found out who he was. Currently Yanek has spent days being transferred by train to a new location, and i think that it might be a gas chamber.
