SECTION 17.Excessive punishments

This section is all over the place and completely contradictory, just like the US Constitution, it confirms no cruel or unusual punishment, yet it also permits the death penalty(as does the US Constitution). This also contradicts our basic right to "life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness"(outlined in section 2 of the Florida constitution and the 14th amendment of the US's).

Article VI, SECTION 4. Disqualifications. (a) and (b) prohibit people convicted of felonies from being able to vote. This type of law is notoriously discriminatory and is frequently used as a "gotchya" attack on POC. I personally feel that this section is unconstitutional as it is contradictory to our basic rights, outlined previously in the constitution.

(a) English is the official language of the State of Florida.
(b) The legislature shall have the power to enforce this section by appropriate legislation.

This is wild.

Article II, SECTION 7. Natural resources and scenic beauty.

This section protects and conserves Florida land, and prohibits drilling for oil within a certain boundary of the state. With recent legislation, it's a good idea to keep an eye on this section.

SECTION 27. Marriage defined.—Inasmuch as marriage is the legal union of only one man and one woman as husband and wife, no other legal union that is treated as marriage or the substantial equivalent thereof shall be valid or recognized.

For now, federal law does overrule this section.
