Okay I can definitely see the hype behind this. It’s all the literature concepts of my generation’s child/teenagehoods combined into one except with dragons and a lot of swearing 😂 BUT I’m not buying in to either of the love interest’s tropes. One doesn’t actually feel like a best friend and I’ve been shown no reasons to believe how “brutal” and “merciless” the other one is.

i liked this book because i thought the plot was interesting enough to compensate and allow me to overlook the YA romance. but the second book is actually a waste of paper... imo

I enjoyed the politics of the series but their relationship drives me NUTS!!!! I find violet unbearable as a main character and their arguments/conflicts are soooooooooo redundant. After finishing the third book, I would say quit now while you can 🫣
