Chapter 2 is really helpful defining terms within missiology. "If everything is missions then nothing is missions." He also writes how missiology and theology are wedded together, not separate. Really good so far.

I can appreciate this chapter about western culture and how we got to where we are today. Still, he has some off the wall blanket statements that I disagree with. Seems like he holds to an eschatological view which affects much of what he thinks Christians in the West should be doing and should not be doing, and what the gospel is and what the gospel is not.

Eh... not the most helpful chapter. Says some things regarding contextualization that I would strongly disagree with.

Ch. 3 had some good history showing how missions has changed over the last 2,000 years. Ch. 4 was quite boring and I disagreed with some of his takes and some of the information he decided to include. Dr. Akin said the first two chapters of this book is the main reason he has students read it and I understand why.
