I LOVE AMY!!! I’ve determined that neither adaptation played her truthfully. In one she was too meek, and the other, too strong. She’s really just the most wonderful mix of all her older siblings as most youngest siblings are (not biased at all). More in comments!

I think I may finish this after all! Finally got to Teddy’s proposal!

It’s tough going because both of the famous adaptations have done such a thorough job in adapting EVERY aspect of the book. And the book only goes a shred deeper into the moments that rationalize the story’s ending.

Main takeaway—Jo isn’t the same girl Teddy first fell in love with. I might be okay with them not ending up together 😭

Ugh. Newlywed Meg is relatable and I hate her for it!

Amy grows in my affection every day. She absolutely deserves to go to Europe and Jo is a stinker for assuming it was still her. Jo is much less likable in the book!

Maybe Miss Alcott will win me over after all 😭

Really enjoyed Meg and John’s wedding even though I’m a hater. Alcott does a great job of giving just enough tenderness and specificity to her characters to make those moments really count.

I realized at this point, that I’m less accustomed to reading third person these days, and I almost wish that I could read a book from each girl’s perspective.

Loved the descriptive narration of the Picnic in Chapter 12 🐜🕷️🐛

I had no idea there was such a strong biblical influence in Little Women! The closing paragraphs of Chapter 8 nearly had me in tears.
