Favorite quote so far - "I'm the stepsister of Jesus Christ sent back to earth to round up all the lazy, goddamned niggers and teach them to cook ribs the way they was meant to be cooked, goddamnit."

So far it's living up to my expectations established after reading Over The Edge Of The World: Magellan's Terrifying Circumnavigation of the Globe. Bergreen has a way of plotting the academics of history in a way that's both entertaining, and time well spent. Crack open a beer and this book for some badass reads!

Finally got around to Sedaris. I'm loving this guy's oddball direct approach to recalling life experiences according to his prism.

This will be the second time I've started over with this book in the past year, and it's not for a lack of entertainment. The book is well written and flows smoothly between academic imputes and mater-of-fact language.

Reads pretty fast, like a magazine piece. The story telling is straight forward and with out the pretentious language I expect from a lot of books...which I tend to enjoy. Yet the mater of fact style seems to take away from the potential intensity this story could bring. Overall I'm enjoying the book.

I initially bought this for my two boys, but now I can't put it down. Such a cool book!
