for me to start crying.

I’ve rolled my eyes so hard and so frequently this past hour, that I’ve made myself dizzy. The world is spinning. The book drones on.

WHAT THE FLYING SQUIRREL IS THIS BOOK?!

I’m asking sincerely.

Not even 30 pages in, and this isn’t looking to be a very promising read.
Honestly, it’s pretty f*cking generic.
The writing is so cliché; It’s rife with blatant Lifetime-worthy thriller movie tropes.
But I have been wrong before. So…
Gonna push through some more, but the fear of disappointment is keeping me trepidatious.

This book is phenomenal so far, but I have to set it aside for now. Too many folks at my library waiting for it, and I am taking too long. Don’t wanna be a book hog…

Just came across a review by a top rated Goodreads member (with 5k friends) blatantly calling the fictional women in the book “sl*ts”, because they have a bit of sex. I don’t much care for sex/romance in the literature I read, but I’m not clutching my (imaginary, unfortunately) pearls over it. Do better, folks. Let people f*ck whoever they want, and however much they want, free of judgment. Liberate yourselves!

I regret taking that sleeping pill.
It was 3.5 hours ago, and yet, this book has enraptured me in its entirety.
I’m drifting off now, 50 pages from the end.
I want to keep going,
I have to keep going,
but my eyelids are pulling me down with them.
This book will be all my dreams and nightmares ‘til I wake.

Gay stuff
A damn good cry

It’s been a few days since I last picked this up. I was severely turned off by the characters, initially. I told myself “Stay away!” and “You’re better than this!” but tonight I was ready to confront the fuckery.

Well, it’s been about 10 pages more that I’ve read, and… I LOVE IT! Lol jk this shit is god-awful!

Why do I do this to myself? Domestic mystery/thrillers involving young, whiny couples…

Already, I’m concerned. I don’t like relationship drama in literature, because it’s really fucking annoying.

I am 95% sure I’m going to absolutely hate this, but there IS fun in that, too: hate reading something. Or, I could be wrong. I mean, there’s a 5% chance that I am. I’ll eat my words if this is anything other than basic.

Folx of Goodreads: I’ve hit a wall! After reading consistently a few books a week since January, I’ve now come to a point where I’m burned out. I haven’t picked up a book in 3 days. I was reading every night, and now… nada! I feared this would happen once I tore through all those Agatha Christie whodunnits. I was doing so well. I was so happy after that 2023 slump. Damn… pray for me, my fellows readers.

What the flippity f*ck is going on?!
This may just piss me off completely…

BIG yikes! That’s certainly an awful take on sexual assault and girls/women in general. Agatha Christie, that is… unfortunate.

A little girl (probably 11) came into the library today asking for Agatha Christie recommendations. I was thrilled; My heart swelled.
I was like, “Girrrrl, I gotchu!”

They might as well be speaking Mandarin, for all my knowledge of Bridge. (And, honestly, this book would be so much more enjoyable if I had any idea of how to play the damn game!)

So, around 1AM this morning, I finished the 800th book of my (almost) 36 years. It’s nothing special compared to many I see here on Goodreads, but it means a great deal to me. I’ve only been reading in earnest for the last 15 years or so. This is a huge personal accomplishment. Onwards and upwards, I say!
