Aaand another gross moment with "half-breed"

Gross entry du jour: "fickle Mexicans" whose primary offense is embracing a serious observation of high holy days at the direction of their bishop. 🙄 Also more calling the grown ass man "boy"

I'm not feeling this book. Cather's description of the settings is consistently beautiful. But our hero, the bishop? Not very likeable. Examples: 1. He waves his gun to save himself and a fellow priest, but not the abused housewife. 2. Calling a 26 year old Native American man -- a man who himself has a son -- "boy". Gross x 2.
