Getting through it - a lot of nautical terms and such nonsensical b.s. that get in the way of the real story, but I think my students can still understand it and enjoy it!

Already hooked on this book, just as I was with "Around the World in Eighty Days"!

Just finished this fantastic novel. I don't know how Verne ever escaped my grasps. I love the enigmatic Fogg, the fastidious Passepartout, and the iconic Mrs. Aouda. As much as I loathe Fix, I feel like he added a crucial amount of obstacle/difficulty to this story. If you haven't read Jules Verne's Around the World in Eighty Days, you must.

Really liked the first two chapters of this book. I like where it is going. I plan on using this to open my geography class next fall.

It is inspiring to read about how Dane ran 52 marathons in 52 weeks.

Interesting setting the stage for what Berkshire Co. looked like after the Revolution. Much of the economic and racial disparities persist today in 2012.

Read the intro to Emm last night before bed. Sounds like a great read! Can't wait to read this after my run!

This was an entertaining twist on a diary of Harmen Meyndertsz van den Bogaert, a Dutch explorer who journeyed into Mohawk and Oneida country in 1634-35. I think that it was interesting putting the story into a graphic novel format because it will appeal to a younger audience. I will recommend this to some of my sixth and seventh graders who will enjoy a quick read with pictures; I hope they learn a little history!

It is entertaining, but it is evident that George O'Connor takes some author's liberties with respect to Van den Bogaert's journal. This is the first graphic novel I have had the pleasure of reading.

This book really highlights how narrow my vocabulary actually is. I am learning new words each page in addition to reading about one of the greatest less known presidents of modern times. I wish they had gone in depth about the trip Polk had to take that saved his life when he was a kid though instead of merely focusing on the election of 1844.
