Very much a YA book but I’m finding the story to be intriguing!

“No, just no”, would’ve been my answer to the Pope! The fact that the proposal was made in the first place is ludicrous to me. But, I still love the book.

So good...

Didn’t really get the first story. Hope the rest are better.

Finally, I’m back to tackling this monster of a book! My plan is to read 19 pages per day to finish by Nov 30!

This is a really entertaining book! Magic, time travel, YA, & historical fiction turns out to be a good combo! I love this line, which is so appropriate for a book set in 1988 East Berlin and the Lodz Ghetto (WWII) - "Places can be victims of history too." And, I love that I learned a new German word- zeitreisende (time traveler)! I don't know when I would ever use it, but it's a cool word!

Scary stuff! It’s a good read.

Rex Tillerson, then Secretary of State, states the obvious, “He’s a f****** moron.” Sounds like Trump is a loose cannon when making decisions. Scary! I can understand why there was and continues to be such a high turnover in WH positions.

His obsession w Twitter and the efforts to curtail his use of it are of particular interest to me because I’m always saying, “shut down his Twitter account!” He stated it was a shame that Twitter increased its permissible characters “because I was the Ernest Hemingway of 140 characters.” That’s funny but... Seriously?? Who ARE these people who eat this stuff up??

Slow going....

First 40% was interesting. I’m fading fast.... it better pick up!

The adventure begins! I finally started this monster of a book that I have feared reading for many years. I’m doing a buddy read with my dad, who read the book 60 years ago and still talks about it like it was yesterday! My goal is to finish by the end of October.

I now know what a Swiftie is! I’m going to be looking for dialogue attributions in the future, to see which authors overuse them. They’ve always bugged me. I’m a big believer in using simple language and not so many adverbs and obscure words.

This is my 3rd time starting this book over the last ~18 years! The bookmark was still in it where I had stopped years ago, around page 50. Kind of slow up to that point but picks up once he starts talking about publishing Carrie.

This book is like rewatching the election, condensed into all of the highlights (or I might say lowlights) with lots of colorful language!

I love this comment by Jared Kushner to Brannon re: his suggestion that Trump donate $50M to his campaign. “Maybe we can get $25 million out of him...He doesn’t have a lot of cash.” Gives new meaning to the expression “I’m a little low on cash!”
