For someone so young, Louna seems to be considerably pessimistic, but also like she learned this behavior; wise about relationships

Ambrose developing as a character; breadcrumbs of school shooting has resulted in learning Ethan died in a shooting; must handle school shootings with care

I like the subtle clues as to how some items (sandals/dress) or events (shooting) make Louna uncomfortable; showing rather than telling

I’m interested to see how this will turn romance, especially since Louna seems like quite the cynic when it comes to love

I’m. In. Love. It’s like middle school me come to life; it’s so cheesy, and I am in the moooooood for cheesy

It’s what you’d expected from a romance book, not a whole lotta depth yet, but characters are pretty relatable, save for how close the sister are, but that’s likely to do age/their mom dying

I hope this book meets my expectations after the movie amping it up so much

I like how she split it into parts even though half of them were really only a chapter; it helped show just how long the wait was for the jury’s decision, which I don’t think so pave been conveyed as strongly if written differently, or broken up differently

Everything’s going well and then Thomas hits you with bad, bringing you back to the reality that these events and incidents happen 24/7 and it’s impossible for many to escape it

Angie Thomas does a wonderful job of pulling you in and keeping you there, when Starr gets mad, so do I; could be because we’re around the same age, but I feel it also has to do with overall writing

It’s like one emotional rollercoaster after another

THUG life was further explained; Angie Thomas apparently did have a similar situation; I’m still in awe that this happens

Coming from a white perspective, am I to assume this is typical “ghetto” neighborhood behavior, or is it dramatized more for emphasis?

Title = THUG, the way you treat people ultimately shapes how they and society thinks about themselves; it’s hard to understand this event and I’ll likely never have to, but it seems as if Thomas’s depiction is realistic; the news and today’s world has numbed me to this sort of emotion, but it’s beginning to hit me

I think this is one of the most emotionally raw books I’ve ever read, likely due to the actual writing as well as the fact it’s happening to people who’re around my age

I guess I’ve never really stopped to truly think about the person being shot by the cop or that black people really do need to watch their every move around cops; gave me a new perspective

Seems authentic, want to keep reading, could’ve had a more noteworthy beginning

Still in the exposition, but so far what they’re doing is hecka messed up

1 chapter in: o.m.g. No idea what will go wrong, but it’s gonna be big, probably something like 1984

Delved a bit deeper into Anne and Marco’s characters; now aware of the backstories behind Anne’s blackouts and what drove Marco to hatch his plan; both characters seem extreme

Interesting twists; definitely layers to each character, but they don’t seem to extend too deeply

Just got to the first big break in the case; still can’t tell who exactly did it; writing is starting to feel a bit repetitive, definitely a beach read

There has to be more to it than just Marco; waiting for the other shoe to drop

So Marco hatched the plan in order to get money from Anne’s parents for his failing business, which was foreshadowed by Rasbach earlier, but now he’s been double-crossed

Honestly can’t foresee what will happen because there’s still a good chunk left, but it remains a compelling story

Would make a good beach read, not really much to unpack/not layer upon layer to discover

It kinda reminds me of an episode of Criminal Minds, or Law & Order, cheesy, yet continuously entertaining

Guess is Anne

Don’t really like the third person story telling; repeats character names over and over when it’s not always necessary, could be reasoning behind it, but I can’t figure it out.

I think Anne or Marco did it

Still very good, not positive on whether or not Anne did it

Just finished chapter 3, and this book holds a lot of promise; lots of suspense, edge of my seat, would keep reading, but roommate is trying to sleep

Guess is that Anne killed Cora

First sentence pulls you in immediately followed by an equally thrilling first chapter
