Chapter 3. A bit formulaic so far. Author sometimes has a bit too much of a high opinion of Confederates, but considering this was written in ‘83 and Western writers notoriously have a pro-South slant, I’m not exactly surprised.

Starting Chapter 5. Enter Wyatt Earp and Johnny Behan.

Starting Chapter 3. The Earp's, as portrayed through the female protagonist's eyes, come off more like the Clantons or McLowrys. Definitely interested in seeing how the story progresses.

Going into Chapter 2. Benson to Tombstone stagecoach ride. It seems like all stagecoach drivers tend to be depicted the same way, whether through literary or television medium: a mouthful of chewing tobacco (or a cigar), crude as all get, and either the first to fire in a hold-up or gets himself shot in the first few chapters / few minutes of the show.

Am I the only one who feels like the easiest time to stop and read these days is when you’re on the road and traveling?

The more I listen to June (the protagonist, if she can honestly be called that), I’m torn between wanting to put this book away incomplete (because of how cringy June is) and wanting to finish it. It’s hard to believe she can be that despicable.
