It got better after about 130 pages. Less footnotes and the writing was fine. It was easy to get used to it.

The characters were interesting but not captivating. All in all the story is ok. However I scanned the last pages more than I actually read them. I won't continue with the series.

The suffering, my gentlefriends, O, the suffering!

This book gives me the chills. The way it is written might be perfect for some people but to me it is just utterly annoying. It combines every element I despise. Want some examples? Here we go.

*Overusing metaphors
*Metaphors without any sort sense
*Useless descriptions
*FOOTNOTES!!!
*Worldbuilding by using said footnotes

If it won't get better I will DNF.

I guess there is a problem . . . The story itself is good. Pip is great.

But there is just something that keeps me from going on with reading.
Maybe it will take a little longer to get into it than I expected. Maybe it has to be a cold and rainy autumn day to be in the mood to read more than just a few pages. Maybe I will fall in love with the story once I am on an utterly boring train ride.
Let's see.

I am in love with this book so far! Great story and intriguing characters I can't get enough of.
This will be a 5-star-read for sure!
