Confusing but not sure if it’s in a good way?

I have a sinking feeling this book is going to make me very very sad

Why on earth is this man including a romance at this stage of the book? Feels extremely shoehorned in and insta-lovey without serving any narrative or character purposes…like y’all have known each other for 3 seconds, please chill.

It just keeps going???? Why would he do this. The book and the characters are so fucking good otherwise???

Why can the only major disagreement a woman and man have in this book be romantic or sexual in nature???? Is that the only way men and women talk to each other??? My last straw was Gandalf-lite and another Magus having an argument not about the political and moral turmoil within their order, but about her being jealous of another woman he was with??? How long will I have to wait for a singular genuine conversation???

Ok this is getting weird and not in a fun way??? Not appreciating what’s happening with the female characters. Writing is getting crude in a gratuitous way.
