usually i like a book that takes place in a weekend but i'm 180 pages in and nothing has happened. this book is coasting on vibes and suspense upheld by secrets between the web of characters, and unfortunately i don't like any of them enough to stay invested. i would seriously stop reading if i wasn't trying to reach my goodreads goal this week

After three, maybe four, attempts to immerse in the story, it finally happened. And it was worth it, and beautiful, the setting of the grit of the neighborhood, the way love becomes a necessity to survival.

can't remember the last time i read 100 pages of a book in a day bc i simply couldn't put it down
