Read this on a plane, apologies to the bloke next to me for the giggles-snorts and tears of laughter, I promise I'm the safe-to-others kind of crazy, not the homicidal kind.

I'm keeping a running list of acronyms on an index card because there are a lot and the reader is assumed to have memorized them all.

Ash is reading Weapons of Math Destruction: How Big Data Increases Inequality and Threatens Democracy
Halfway through and I'm fascinated and horrified by the thought of the algorithms invisibly churning out judgements.

I'm three chapters in, I'm solving the word puzzles and writing the characters. I expected this to be harder to learn and I'm happily surprised.

I have an index card as a bookmark to keep track of all the acronyms being used. They got explained once, chapters ago, and are being used CONSTANTLY in the text.

Wondering about how you coach people on necessary, non-negotiable behaviours they don't do. Some stuff just HAS to be done.

Spotted my humour style as Sniper, but where do puns and wordplay land?

This is exhausting to read. Battle, battle, battle, more battle, even more battle, leading up to a battle. And I'm wearying of constant battles.

I'm still angry about the author's screw-up on Schroedinger's Cat. The cat has no agency. Your example is wrong.

Author's description of the Schroedinger's Cat experiment is wrong. Not just slightly wrong, but completely wrong, and basing the rest of 'premise 5' on that wrong interpretation makes me doubt her research and approach. She couldn't Google the experiment to get it right? I'm shocked and disappointed.

According to the main character in this book, developers are careless, thoughtless cowboys, and Ops is perfect and never makes mistakes.

Not enjoying the derogatory remarks about developers,
"Show me a developer who isn't crashing production systems, and I'll show you one who can't fog a mirror." p28
"[Developers are] often carelessly breaking things and then disappearing, leaving Operations to clean up the mess. The only thing more dangerous than a developer is a developer conspiring with Security." p39
