Contrary to the reviews I read, I don't think this books ending was predictable. I, for one, was reading faster and more fervently the deeper I got in to this book. I often thought the heroine was melodramatic but her seeming self-centeredness is what also rendered me unable to predict the fallout. I think it was a good book, not the best by the author but certainly not a waste of time.

This was a really good book, in our current political climate it was a nice introduction to the middle eastern crises we see abroad but on a much deeper/personal level that I can connect to more than the soundbytes given by the evening news.

Best quote thus far: "Around the lunch table everyone seems to have given up something -dairy, meat, gluten, sugar, carbs. Only in a land of plenty could people voluntarily go without so much."

Finally! Ive been reading this book since before my daughter was born and although it was a good contemporary read, I had the hardest time finishing it. Once it got going, it was a truly phenomenal book.

I am 63% finished with this book and yet I still can't find the umph to finish it... I'm struggling! In the meantime I've started a finished a whole new book :/ I am determined to finish this book, I will succeed.
