So far I like this but I don’t love it and I had deeply thought it was going to be a 5 star read. I think the comparisons to other novels are fairly inaccurate and while this is queer self discovery and coming of age like some of the comparisons it’s also much more focused on the political as indicated by the summary but I think that was vastly overrated for comparison

I have theories but also am anticipating being heavily wrong because damn am I invested in all the threads being weaved

This is my third Kevin Wilson novel and it’s really hitting me that he’s become one of my favorite authors because this is so weird and so fun

I haven’t seen the movie yet but I have seen the Sean Penn “Is that my daughter” scene which is intense and great acting but also probably the worst scene to see because I haven’t gotten to that yet in the book and my anxiety over it is fucking skyrocketing because I’m just waiting for Jimmy to show up and the crime scene and I love this book

Was not expecting an Emeryville or Roseville mention

Hoped I would love this and then a Klaus Nomi reference got dropped. Now I’m sure I love this and I need everyone to go listen to Klaus Nomi immediately
