This book just is not fair.

And everyone lives happily ever after... oh still 52% to go, perhaps not.

Ah there we are with the grimness.

I was imagining Hardy would be a slog but this is actually a bit more of a breeze than I was anticipating, at least so far.

This is a very Dave Gorman project.

Very repetitive at this point; Sweeney does not seem to meet any Scientologist without getting into an argument. Of course some of that is down to their own bellicose approach to handling critics, but it doesn’t make for the most thrilling copy.

Should have made faster progress. Austen’s waspish wit is, of course, a delight. Once the book settled into Elinor as the Only Sane Man it found its rhythms.

I’m expecting Willoughby to be a rascal, but perhaps that’s because I still remember the scoundrel Wickham from P&P.

Levin and Kitty are delights.

All action as we reached the halfway mark.

Poor Levin, although I’m sure we’ll hear much more about him.
