Bellis is on the run from something, but still surprisingly antisocial for someone who chose a career that revolves around personal communication.

Janci Patterson is doing a better job maintaining the feel of the first Skyward book with these novellas than Sanderson himself has been doing with books 2 and 3 of the main series. And more is happening in a smaller page count.

"Between ourselves, not everyone likes the idea of what these magnificent robots can do. A further threat to the last bastions of human employment potential."

Mother says the creative arts are the safest, there are jobs there. But if robots can start to make music beautifully and expertly, and sing like angels, what then?

"Egyptia dropped like a swath of silk at the robot’s feet."

"A dress like a tulip flame swathed her, and she held a purple rose."

Take note, writers! This was written back when people still knew the difference between the words "swath" and "swathe"!
