Taking a break from Blood on the Tracks and reading some of Oshimi’s older works now.

Aaaaannnndddd of course it got even more uncomfortable to read! Why am I surprised?!

The way the main character’s intrusive thoughts are shown in between panels of him trying to have normal interactions with his love interest are a creative way of showing what those kinds of intrusive thoughts can really be like. This poor kid, man.

Well isn’t this an atrocious tale!

Aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh

I vaguely knew what I was getting myself into with this series, seeing as how I came across it while researching “most disturbing manga”.. but holy hell. Oshimi is really great at illustrating facial expressions. I am uncomfortable.

This definitely has really outdated and offensive language, but that aside, the story is like a mildly confusing fever dream. The Vietnam flashbacks are horrifying to read.

I’m having a hard time putting this one down because I just want to know what the hell is going on in this story.

First time reading a Straub novel.. it’s a bit unsettling right out the gate. I’m looking forward to the rest of it.

It says it’s for ages 13+ but this is really violent and weird..

Finally back on that weird, gruesome, vintage shojo grind. I wish they’d printed ALL of this in English, but I’ll settle for 7 volumes. :(

Oh hell yeah

This book is dragging on but I refuse to give up now.

I’m trying to savor every panel because I love Maruo’s art style but I also just want to get to the juicy bits already.

I’m enjoying the story and some of the writing but I’ll be very glad to read a book that isn’t nearly 900 pages after I’m finished with this one.

The story is finally starting to get really exciting for me!

The growth + tribulations the main character is having to overcome remind me of my personal health struggles in a way and it’s very inspiring. Not what I was anticipating from this book, but I like it.
