This story is toxic af but a lot of romance marketed toward young people are, so who am I to judge?

Still reading this series out of curiosity. I’m forced to read a fan translation since it was never published in English. The sketch style illustrations are cool but lack SO much when it comes to scenery. It feels like the mangaka was heavily focused on the story vs the actual art. Maybe the scans I’m reading are just wonky?

Reading this to see if it’s as problematic as the OVA made it seem, and all I can think is “WHY ARE KOJI’S LEGS THAT LONG?!”

Rosemarie is an asshole.

I was worried about how disturbing this would be. It’s definitely gross, but the cartoonish illustrations make it a lil easier to digest.

The main story in this is so fucked up.. but I like how Kago added the self-insert story where he explains narrative manipulation and his obsession with collecting random things.

Holy body horror, Batman!

I often wondered why Viz decided to re-release The Drifting Classroom and Orochi instead of some of Umezu’s other works.. now that I’m reading this, I think I understand why. This seems to focus more on the gnarly horror images and doesn’t have a super solid storyline. It makes me wonder what the rest of his manga are like. This is still cool as hell though.

Now THIS is a retro horror manga.

The illustrations and stories in this are soooo cool thus far. Great horror manga to start off my October reading with!

The plot twist has been very twisty so far.

This is probably one of the most horrific books I’ve read so far. It’s got an awful blend of Vietnam trauma, abominable war crimes, live snuff shows, unimaginable loss.. all wrapped up with stuff that probably won’t make any sense until I get to the end of the book. I have NO idea what to expect.

This book still feels like I’m reading a wild fever dream.

I really hope this volume reveals some of the info I’ve been wanting to know, because it’s the last volume I own right now and probably won’t be collecting any others for a hot minute.

Keeping in mind that this came out in 2005 and was written when the author was in their early-ish 20s. I can see why people hate this but it’s definitely not the worst or most graphic thing I’ve seen by a long shot. The story isn’t very captivating yet though.

Big trigger warning right out of the gate and then everything else is absolutely ridiculous. It’s interesting to read a more silly/comedy focused story from Oshimi.
