"The idea of holding back certainly didn’t come from Scripture. The Bible teaches us to be consumed with Christ and to faithfully live out His words."

Having faith often means doing what others see as crazy. Something is wrong when our lives make sense to unbelievers.

AMEN.

Finally picked up the book again.

Boy would I hate having to live forever. I mean, apart from the fact that you'd be able to learn every trade and stuff, it would kind of be a mess... And maybe get boring after a few thousand years...

I wonder, then, why the last thing Jesus told us was to go into the world, making disciples of all nations, teaching them to obey all that He commanded? You’ll notice that He didn’t add, “But hey, if that’s too much to ask, tell them to just become Christians—you know, the people who get to go to heaven without having to commit to anything.”

"The irony is that while God doesn’t need us but still wants us, we desperately need God but don’t really want Him most of the time. He treasures us and anticipates our departure from this earth to be with Him—and we wonder, indifferently, how much we have to do for Him to get by."

"Friends, we need to stop living selfish lives, forgetful of our God. Our lives here are short, often unexpectedly so, and we can all stand to be reminded of it from time to time. That’s why I wrote this chapter, to help us remember that in the movie of life, nothing matters except our King and God."

"If my mind is the size of a soda can and God is the size of all the oceans, it would be stupid for me to say He is only the small amount of water I can scoop into my little can."

I'm not sure why, but this book gets me in a different way than other books of the same topic and style.

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody! I hope everyone enjoys the family, friends, and food, or any combination of the 3. Also, we can be thankful for the gifts, but just remember the most important thing: the Giver. Happy Thanksgiving again!

Every time a raisin goes into a pastry, a demon gets his horns.

Sorry to everyone who likes raisins in their desserts, but you are the problem with humanity.

Happy Thanksgiving! :)

"Every one of these folks is as ugly as me. And aint that beautiful?"

This book definitely tapers off in the funny factor about half way through, but also picks up more of a plot at the same time. This is a book that everybody needs to read. But I recommend you read the trilogy by Jonathan Rogers first... Great story.

"When folks realized our sunshine pellets was really just little cucumbers, their noses come unjointed and they wanted their money back. Which I never understood. We never said sunshine concentrate pellets wasn’t cucumbers. And when you think about how much sunshine goes into making one—well, if a cucumber aint a concentrated sunshine pellet, I don’t know what is."

“What?”
“The ugliest boy in the world.”

Y'all need to read this book. It's got a great quote on every page. Just read the Wilderking series by Jonathan Rogers first. It will make more sense that way.

I find myself missing a connection between the writer and myself. Maybe I'm asking too much from this book, but I'm kind of wanting him to make me cry. To bring back memories of the times we had that are now gone 3, 5, and 10 years ago. And then to use that emotion to fuel the drive for the points that he's making. I find myself missing that emotion that he was so close to in the 2nd chapter.

I'm finding this book difficult. I'm trying to read it and enjoy it, and after I had just finished the 2nd chapter I really thought I would. Reading on, though, I'm getting slightly annoyed by the fact that his writing is so scattered. I understand that he thinks it's cool and is great for his ADD readers, but when you can't follow the points he's making, it's gone too far...

Well, I must say that in the second chapter Wilson connected with me in a way that he never has before. He has brought to mind memories that have long been tucked away in long-term memory.

I start this book with a sigh. Just feeling the familiarity of this writer's style. I'm not a fan, but I will try to enjoy it...

"It is a very silly idea that in reading a book you must never 'skip'. All sensible people skip freely when they come to a chapter which they find is going to be no use to them."

Wow, Lewis. I thought you would feel the opposite.
