I woke from a dream.I won’t describe it in detail because much of it was muddy and confused and because other peoples dreams are always boring, like their coincidences. Both gain resonance through their roots in the individuals history and character; unless you’re that person you simply won’t get it, or understand why a dream might feel like it enshrines insights or judgments out of reach to the conscious mind

You are married to someone and they become intimate with someone behind your back, that’s a deal. But a big deal, once you get past the betrayal and hurt pride and all that crap? Depends. Tying people together for life is a hell of an ask. People change, inevitably. Even if most of the time you walk in the same direction, there’ll be times when one of you wanders off the path.

This book makes me never want to enter a cave again.

Where once we reached for God and his angels, now we grasp for beings in spaceships.
Both are merely attempts to explain that which we cannot explain, by bailing preemptively from the discussion by means of the magical other or an unverifiable deus Ex machina.

There is nothing on Earth that can’t be explained by the actions (however surprising and anomalous) of Earthlings. If you look back through the history of the idea of extraterrestrial contact, with a few exceptions it’s always proffered by an opportunist, a lunatic, a religious nut, or some magic is just science evangelist one step away from a padded cell.
