Janie has created a desalination method which is then stolen from her. When the people who steal it from her however can't figure out how to make it work they kidnap her. Janie is currently on a private jet heading to one of the many Malay Islands where her kidnapper will create a desalination plant with her knowledge.

In prodigy, the second book of the series, we follow Day who is the protagonist. Day lives in North America in the future where after a war split America into "The Republic" and "The Colonies", Day fights back against the unfair, harsh, and overly cruel government which oppresses all but the extremely rich. Day is currently heading to the Republic's capital in Denver to kill the Elector Primo( the president).
