I think there must be an outline or template for writers of this genre because every single thing that happens is both predictable and happens exactly like every other book. That said, I like the two main characters - Gemma isn’t at all whiny like some and Sebastian is genuinely a good man. These are perfect books for long walks with my dog and working in the garden.

This book is killing me - it is so bad: overuse of similes (every other paragraph tries to wax poetic with ...like...), steamy love scenes that really aren't necessary (not that I have anything against them, but genre does this want to be?), and the heavy-handed borrowing from Downton Abbey is almost blatantly funny.

Full disclosure - I am on my 2nd read-through of the series so I can talk about them with my granddaughter who now walks around in a cloak, waving her wand.

Fun segue book in between some heavier reads. Great twist at the end that could make a fun sequel.
