I weirdly like Isuke's character, but I think she's going to end up screwing over Khalid and Shazi.

I'm going soooo slow with this book. I hope I'm not falling into a reading slump because I have 5 other books to read

I'm still wondering why the hell Despina ran off with Vikram??? And Khalid going out into the city anonymously helping his people is so pure but he should be focusing on the impeding war..

maybe I'm just weird but I actually like those kinds of books where you get to the end and you still have no idea what's about to happen... also damn Khalid for making me feel bad for him!

I'M SO CONFLICTED!!! I like this book and the characters a lot but Shazi continues to disappoint me. It's like I hate her and love her at the same time. How can she be so foolish?? Falling in love with a murderous king simply because he has pretty eyes and says sweet things? It's not what I expected from her at all, but she is multifaceted like the rest of us I suppose.

I'm sorry but I don't like how she's falling for the caliph. He murdered her best friend and countless other women. Her feelings for him don't match her character at all. He deserves to pay for what he's done to countless families and young women, and it's her job to deliver that punishment so yeah not feeling the budding romance between them.

I love Shazi, strong female leads for the win! We're starting to get into Khalid's family history and it's really sad

Their stories are starting to merge and I'm excited to see where this goes!

I'm reading this in alternating chapters, currently on page 68 of Gemma and 64 of Lyra. This is already a really good book and we haven't even got to the intense parts! I'm excited, I've never read a flip book before so it's an all around interesting experience. I've already planned on buying my own copy and pre ordering the 2nd book

PLOT TWIST!!!

It's getting even more interesting now, plus the character development of Tom/John is great. I will say the romance is a bit cliche, I mean this guy falls in love so damn fast it will leave you with whiplash

I'm loving it so far, and the MC is definitely growing on me. I could almost consider this a quick read because even though it's nearly 400 pages, it's so engaging that I don't really want to put it down.

I'm liking it so far! Not really a fan of the super short chapters though. A lot of stuff is divided into 3 or 4 chapters when it could easily be 1.

Less than 100 pages to go and I'm still not fully invested in the story. I mostly just want to get it over with at this point.

The book is still pretty slow, unfortunately. I'm enjoying the author's writing style but the story itself, not so much.

It's a bit slow at the moment but I'm hoping the story will pick up soon! I hate to see a good plot wasted :/ will update when I'm 100 pages in.
