I like the book, I like the characters, and I like the world. But somehow it’s not “grabbing” me; I’m not sure why. Kang has a really easy style of narrative that’s not excessively, and unnecessarily, descriptive, so this shouldn’t be a long read for me. *shrugs* I might not be in the best mental space for fantasy fiction right now.

Did you ever try and power through a book you were only so-so enjoying, just so you could crack open one you were really excited to read?

This is a bit of a slog for me. For one thing, at least so far, this is populated by Libertarian idealists - horrible people whose only god is the almighty dollar. I'm hoping it gets better. Maybe the island will sink...

That aside, the story melds quantum physics, virtual reality, psychology, and politics in a very interesting, pseudo-plausible way. the author has created his own jargon, and sticks with it.

Really enjoying this series.
