I wonder how this book would have been written before all the backlash last year because this is pretty excruciating to read. Every other paragraph is a speech about queer rights, women's rights, BLM- and yes, these things are important but damn does it make for horrible prose. There is no nuance, the reader is treated like a simpleton and every single thing is spelled out. No critical thinking allowed here.

The over emphasis on Nicky being underage is beginning to be weird. Like, 2 underage teenagers can have all the consensual sex they want...I'm very confused.
I guess it's to placate all the weirdos that think it's inappropriate for an adult to write about teenagers engaging in sex?
