A little more than halfway through and loving every page. Delicious sentences. A fine sense of the creepy.

I'm impressed by this in many ways so far, but man! is it terribly sad.

My son (17, reading it for English class) said it depressed him too much. I wanted to cheer him up by reading it with him, but it's even sadder than he described.

I snagged an advance proof of Slade House and am glad I did. It's a delightful, twisted novel that's very hard to stop reading.

I'm nearly done, and don't want to spoil anything. So far it's like the other Mitchell novels I've read: multiple point of view characters, nicely realized; layer cake narratives with many links between them.

Very engaging so far. Aurora is about the first human interstellar expedition, a generation ship aimed at settling worlds around Tau Ceti.

The first fifth of the novel establishes the ship, which is interesting, and several key characters. The next fifth takes us to planetfall, and the plot's acceleration.

Interesting so far, a mix of closely observed personal interactions (almost a novel of manners) with moments of extreme brutality, all on a spaceship. Already one betrayal and lots of manipulation, relayed in a chilly tone.
