Etwas mühsam zu lesen ist diese fiktive Biographie, in der bis lang kein großes Ereignis geschehen ist. Doch Hesses fulminante Sprache hält bei der Stange und man bekommt das Gefühl, es könnte noch zu recht tiefen Einsichten zum menschlichen Dasein kommen. Mal sehen!

I hadn't read about neural Turing machines before, so the chapter was interesting by default. Typically for this book, it was superficial and repetitive, though.

Typos in formulas and spotty reasoning in derivations

Liked the treatment of back prop and vanishing/exploding gradients. Overall too repetitive and verbose, but vague in harder parts.

Some interesting thoughts:
- The human brain evolved to its massive size because the use of fire saves lots of calories that other primates need to digest their uncooked foods.
- Homo sapiens domesticated wolves. Homo neanderthalensis did not. That may have been a major factor in overpowering the other species in Europe.
