They’re giving me whiplash. If this is how relationships are, I don’t want it.

He sounds increasingly bitter. “I’m just your sex therapist, right? Actually, no, I’m your fucking fluffer.”

“Fluffer?” I say blankly.

“Like in porn,” he mutters. “They bring in the fluffer to suck off the dudes between takes so they stay hard.” Anger colors his tone. “That was my job, right? To get you nice and hot for Kohl? To get you ready to bone him?”

This is so stupid. This is what happens when you don’t define the relationship. CLARITY, PEOPLE. Is that not a thing? Am I old-school for actually wanting a label on a relationship. 😭

“Oh fuck.” Garrett’s fingers dig into my hips before I can move. “Tell me about your grandmother again.”

“Now?”

His voice comes out strained. “Yes, now, because I don’t know if anyone has ever told you this before, but you are tighter than a—okay, nope, not gonna think about how tight you are.

They’re fucking and he randomly says this out of nowhere. I get what he’s trying to do but WHAT.

“You’d think it would be impossible for me to get hard when we’ve just had the most depressing conversation known to man, but my dick thickens the moment her firm ass settles over it.”

I give up in this book, y’all. 🫠 I’m bored. I don’t feel the chemistry and Hannah is way too good for Garrett. Plus, I TRULY DO NOT SEE HOW THIS DUDE WILL BE REDEEMED WHEN WE’RE ALREADY THIS FAR INTO THE BOOK.

Is it just me or does the past trauma dumping part just happened at the most random times?

Even the smut is boring to me, I’ve officially reached rock bottom. 😃

“My place?” he murmurs.

Those two words, low and husky, make my thighs clench so hard I’m surprised I don’t pull a muscle.

Rather than answer—my throat has clogged with desire—I take the coffee from his hand and proceed to dump both our cups in the trashcan behind him.

Garrett chuckles. “I’ll take that as a yes.”

At least finish the coffee before you throw it away. 😭

She peers up at me in awe. I always forget how short she is until we’re standing face to face and she has to crane her neck to meet my eyes.

“Let’s have sex,” she announces.

This seems weird out of context but even with context, it’s not any better.

“There’s a naked woman on my bed and I can’t fuck her. I can’t, because tonight isn’t about me. It’s about Hannah.”

If I come to find out after finishing this book that this is what y’all are praising Garrett for, I lost faith in all of you. 😃

“What does it matter? Since when do guys cross-examine a girl about her motives for wanting to get naked?”

“Since you’re not the kind of girl who gets naked!” he sputters.

I clench my teeth. “I’m not a virgin, Garrett.”

“You’re not a puck bunny either.”

“So that means I’m not allowed to sleep with a guy I’m attracted to?”

Everytime I start a new chapter, I lose a brain cell. 😃

“Even if I wanted to take advantage of Hannah right now, I’d be totally useless. And shit, that’s a totally repulsive thing to think, because I’d never take advantage of her. I’d rip my own dick off before forcing myself on someone.”

At least he’s aware that it’s wrong? But still, why would you write that first line. 😭

Officially halfway!

As much as I hate to admit it, it does get somewhat better. Now that Garrett is starting to realise his feelings for Hannah, his playboy ways are starting to show less and less.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I have hope for the second half. 🫣

“Before I can blink, Garrett tugs me into his arms and hugs the breath out of my lungs. I throw my arms around his neck, then burst out laughing when he lifts me right off my feet and spins me around so many times I get dizzy.”

This is cute, I’ll give ‘em that.

I laugh awkwardly. “Not really. I haven’t seen my friends in a while. I’ve been too busy to go out.”

“Not too busy to see Graham,” he points out. There’s a teasing note in his voice, but I also hear something sharper. Jealousy? Or maybe it’s resentment.

All the men in this book are red flags. 😃

“And if that fails, I could always try my hand at stripping.”

I sweep my gaze up and down her body, making a big show out of licking my lips. “Well, you’ve definitely got the tits for it.”

Does anyone else think this is a red flag. 😭 I really don’t know how Garrett is going to have his character development.

I raise one eyebrow. “Is she?”

“Well, no,” he relents. “But Tiffany—”

I snort. Tiffany. Of course her name is Tiffany.

Hannah, you better not get on my nerves. 😌

“Hey, it’s Hannah,” I tell him.

“I know. I have Caller ID, dumbass.”

Well, that’s just rude. I imagine his tone being snappy instead of teasing for some reason.

“My chest is not a thing.” I give her a pointed look. “Other women seem to like it just fine.”

I see what Hannah is trying to say but can’t she word it differently. 😭 This book really feels like it’s pass its time.

Officially more than a quarter into this.

In comparison to Icebreaker (the only other college ice-hockey romance so far), at least this one has a plot, so the story is actually moving towards something, this making me reading it a bit faster. But I am somewhat skimming or rather, reading jt passively just to get this book over with.

“Strongly disagree.” His chin lifts decisively. “I’ll make you a playlist. Obviously you need to learn the distinction between good music and shitty music.”

Is this suppose to make me swoon? That’s bare minimum, babe. Bare minimum.

When I come out, I find Garrett scrolling through my phone.

“You went through my bag?” I exclaim. “Seriously?”

“Your phone was hanging out of the front pocket,” he protests.

This book is making me lose faith in men. 😃🫠
