And thus concludes Stiff Upper Lip, Jeeves. I need closure on Gussie Fink-Nottle and Emerald Stoker, though.
And I don’t feel great about Madeline Basset getting hitched to the fascist Spode.

And, uh, maybe worth noting the above-average number of distressing references to “natives” in this one, as there’s an explorer character who talks about Africans and South Americans a lot. Not great, Pelham!

Oof, some weird 19th-century racism on page 49. 😬

Happened to be by the library, wanted something to read on the bus, decided to be a real weirdo about it.

A good read. Geller does drop names hilariously often, which I found more endearing than annoying. I think the advice here is solid and compassionate and doable. I will apply a general warning for anyone sensitive to descriptions of abuse, both toward human children and dogs. Some of both, but especially the latter, occur throughout.

My mom got me this book ages ago and I always felt guilty for not checking it out. The basic premise seems good so I’m interested in the specifics of Geller’s approach. I don’t know that I’m 1000% sold on Geller’s storytelling style (…in the Introduction, why do we need to know the old lady’s smile is “yellow-toothed” and her English “heavily accented”? 🫤) but we’ll see how it goes.

Man. This is a tough read. Elegantly written and engaging, yet I can only read it in the tiniest bite-sized chunks because it’s *heavy*.
