90% of my notes in the margins are “wut?”

Kapic specifically wrote chapter 7 with me in mind. I mean, maybe not literally with me in mind but it felt like he peered into my brain and wrote about time, anxiety, and presence to me. Anyways, this chapter is worth the price of the book alone and there’s still more to go!

Some real tasty treats in this book. The implications for burial and land claims are especially good.

The ubiquity of this doctrine in the early church is staggering.

Really great work here so far. He’s set up a great foundation for the OT and Second Temple Judaism’s understanding of the place of the dead being broken up into three compartments under the earth.

Woof, chapter 6 felt more like something I would read in Slate than an actual published book.

Fascinating so far. Though still in many ways remarkably unhelpful.

The dude LOVES a good alliteration.
