Julia is 65% done with Daughter of Smoke & Bone (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #1)
So far, so enjoyable. Definitely shades of "Twilight" mixed with "Fallen", but with (usually) much better writing than either of those series. Still strays a bit far into the "breathless description of the perfection of the protagonist and her love interest" - made me roll my eyes at several points - but hey, it's YA. Comes with the territory.

The end of chapter 46 (and presumably the beginning of chapter 47) is so very much jumping the shark! Someone appears to be about to use mag boots on an armored space suit to ride a missile 50 km through space to rescue someone floating in an EVA suit with decreasing air. And then.... hold onto EVA person and carry them back to the ship... on the same missile?

So far, so good, though there are occasional typos and repetitions that make me think this wasn't very closely copy-edited prior to publication.
