there are moments within this story when i regret ever learning to read

...okay i’m reconsidering my previous opinion. the story’s gotten darker and thicker, it’s got a spine. let’s see what happens next.

hmm this reads so weird... i’m not a particular fan of the alternating points of view between the daughter and the mother, as chapters are rather short and the story keeps jumping from one to another too quickly for me to truly grasp the plot. before anything major happens, it feels like i’m already torn into another perspective. i can’t tell if slow reading makes it better or worse.

liam and mara’s story was chef’s kiss mwah. would have loved to read it in an even more detailed version, a bit short of 150 pages proved to be not enough time spent with them. i wanted to get to know them better so much!! ali hazelwood, you did it again, woman.

...?? an unreliable narrator was the last thing i would expect in this book. i’m not sure if everything adds up yet but... hit or miss??
