I'm a fan of Harry's but I'm not as invested in an outcome as usual.

Ahhh, so good to be back in the able hands of Joe Ide. His prose, brought to life by Sullivan Jones, is a...treat is too light a word. It feels like an indulgence to become immersed in them is the best way I can put it.

I don't usually kvetch about narrators but I switched from the Abridged (which I borrowed by accident) to the Unabridged versions of this (both narrated by Jean Smart) and it still feels less than cohesive. Her inflections beat the heck out of Tunnel Vision's narrator but it feels instead a little disjointed. The story itself may be wandering a bit.

A lot of our miseries, regrets and shame can be sorted with the three questions: Will this matter on my deathbed? Can I do something about it? Is this a story I'm telling myself.

I'm adding this as Currently Reading even though I've already read it because, in my opinion, it is the perfect companion to Not Your Grandmother's Log Cabin, which I *am* currently reading. Now is the perfect time to highlight and review this o' so useful and user friendly book.

Yay, Livelibrary released this Hold to me! Boo, Kindle doesn't do renewals and so I have to read it in my web browser on my PC and FIre. Fortunately, it is also accessible through Libby and actually looks better on my phone, even though it's smaller. Anyhoo, this book is quite precise with the cutting and the pressing... I prefer cut as I go and think EPP would be easier than the pressing and squaring fuss...

Drat! This one was automatically returned before I could actually do a block. Now it's On Hold with 1 person waiting...yeah, that would be ME Livelibrary. Hope the loan is renewed soon so I can devote my full attention to it now that the other quilting book is done. And, oh yeah, like an idiot, I checked out two more great quilting books (from Hoopla this time). At least I was smart enough not to add them here!

I wouldn't ordinarily be reading two crafty books at the same time but I suggested LiveLibrary buy this and they did within a couple days! This is the kind of piecing that gives me a little thrill because I can do it by hand. It's an interesting read and I'm glad I get a chance to go through it before buying.

I've gone through this book a couple times. Unfair to state an opinion without actually applying the techniques in a project and I think I've decided on one.

The concept is dead simple and once I grasped it, I'm not that interested in the patterns in the book. I am going back through it to make sure I didn't miss something and to clarify joining the blocks and finishing the backing.

I don't do 'regular' quilts because the point matching and precision are either fully engaging or teeth grittingly frustrating. At a quilt club meeting I remember wondering about quilt-as-you-go with another attendee. Both of us puzzled over how to do it without the back being a seamed mess. Well, now I know. So far, so enlightening!

It is rare for me to skip ahead. I either stay the course or I abandon it altogether but this book...the blurb made it seem so good but it's just not pulling me in. The writing is good, there's a flow, I guess, but there's no tension. I skipped all the way to chapter 5 just to get away from the teenagers and still I'm not pulled in yet. Putting it aside for a minute...

So far this like a YA since the tragedies are being experienced by young adults and from their perspective. It reads as if it's mostly about the aftermath of a mass shooting, which isn't a bad thing at all. I wanted a mystery, some suspense, a bit of thriller action. Taking a LONG time to get there.

Action packed and suspenseful. The threat has to do with nanos in humans and some 'thing' that will happen to all who have them in their system. Lee has discovered her daughter was infected and is being pursued and helped out by Mortimer.

Richard gone gaga or infected? Either way he's doing a suicide run. And, isn't Victor's wife divorcing him? Good to see characters not falling into bed with any old available and willing body minutes after a break up but it's also confusing since I'm having a hard time keeping the roster straight. Something is imminent but who can stop it? Mortimer is good, I think. Onward.

Okay, things are still murky for me but here we go: Mortimer just wants to break free of his core but Samson, another AI, is out for world domination and won't leave him alone. The woman tasked with stopping some horror, freed by her husband, is meeting up with one of the two former collaborators, Victor, who is also a former flame of hers. Both of them are altruist and the people they work with are hawks?

I sorta know what's going on. There's an AI working toward being fully free and in his travels around the internet he meets the guy who created him and another AI who is offering him untethering in return for something maybe not so good. AND, there's a woman with a bad marriage tasked with stopping something in Florida. Oh, and 2 former collaborators... Yeah...I'm obviously missing more than one something.
