Finally out of a reading slump, or at least I think so. This year I want to read more meaningful books, more classics, more self-help. I want to make a paradigm shift, not to focus on challenges and binge reading, no more on quantity but on quality.

Είναι τόσο φυσική η γλώσσα του Σαμαράκη. Στη γλώσσα μου το βιβλίο που φάνηκε ψυχρό.

I can't wait to read the chapter about outstanding interpreters. One of my professors was an outstanding one, too. He could translate lengthy passages without notes!

Such a boring book... I hope the divorce thing will spice things up. I like the atmosphere of the book and its Victorian style, but almost nothing happens. Come on: action!

In my opinion the most astounding progress in the history of interpreting was the simultaneous interpreting at Nuremberg Trials. They needed to succeed and they succeeded.

I didn't expect the chapter with the Chinese world to be more interesting than the one with the European world. But I feel it is.

Sometimes dull, sometimes interesting. I don't care about all the periods; I like more the modern history of interpreters. Nevertheless it has some interesting info.

Sometimes boring, sometimes interesting; overall not very exciting but very descriptive. Also outdated. From now on I'm reading it only for advice. I don't really care about anything else.

Loved the chapter dedicated to reading. Many people today do not read past the news or simple books. I sense that, in general, even though the book covers are getting more beautiful, their actual content is duller; also many books are similar in content. I agree with the study of classics; but we don't have time to do this anymore.

This book is published in 1854 and presents some truths we see today. What a valuable book. First chapter is genius.

Hard, sad and tragic book, as it's supposed to be. I'm now curious how their journey will turn out, though the writing style doesn't make me understand every word. I wonder why Darl speaks so beautifully, with a lot of exquisite words. Hasn't he supposed to grow up in such a poor family?
