I'm re-listening the book, in an revised version, narrated by the author himself.

It's really good, and I am enjoying better, now that I am much more aware of what was at stake during the late bronze age collapse.

This part of the book (chapters 9, 10 and 11) are heavily focused on the archaeological evidences.

The problem is that you can feel the author being too worried about controversies inside the academic field that do not concern lay readers. And this is a book for everyone, not a paper. This hinders the pace of the reading.

And the audiobook lacks the maps!! Without them it's really hard to follow the argument.

It's a slow reading. And a narrative that seems outdated. Too many names of places and people given completely without a context, making them easily forgattable. At least in the beginning.

But the setting and the plot are really engaging!

I had to return some chapters because it was impossible to understand the audiobook without maps in the accompanying PDF...

Awful content for an audiobook... really hard to follow up between all those weird names and lists of objects found on every archeological sites found.
