This is a great book. But boy, what a shame that they got the payoff matrix for the prisoner’s dilemma wrong, wrong, wrong! The dilemma plays such a central role for the theme, and then they mess up the explanation. This should be fixable in a later edition, of course.

Ouch. The cost of education *to society* (as opposed to the undeniable benefits of education for *some* individuals) is gut-wrenchig. The morality, in particular from a class-conscious point of view, seems to be clear: society-funded education is a moral mistake of the highest order, which is exacerbated by the fact that education benefits mainly rich and smart people like me. *Highly* counterintuitive.
