Almost every family kept a chicken coop, birds caged beneath the floor, or a goat tied up for milk. Inside, everybody had the larder built of hand-hewn shelves encased in chicken wire, the whole thing on high legs, the foot of each immersed in a tin can filled with water: it kept the bugs from climbing up.

Just finished Brothers in Arms. That was cray! Now for Mirror Dance and then onto The stand alone Memory!

Done. No regrets. Would re-read again! Gosh! Forgot how good this book was. I mean, I don’t know how many times I’ve read it! I have only finished the series once! But this first book I have read multiple times. It’s always interesting returning to a series that you have finished though. So. Much. Hindsight! And clues! And foreshadowing! Ai, Lady!!!
