OMG... The end of part two, the vultures show up again: Cathartes Aura. Right after Miller 86s the Poet. Now, I have a friend on GR, calls himself "Eight-six the Poet" and wrote Cathartes Aura and the Apocalypse Zoo . Co-inkydink? I doubt it...

I'm totally loving this. It's a few decades (at least) since I read it. Back then, I was a Born Again, a professed Jesus Freak, and I've been rather dreading returning to it. But the Brothers of Saint Leibowitz are very much what I always felt Christianity should be, and the fact that Christianity isn't like that is a large part of why I lost my faith.

I really need to remember to set the reading status on the books I'm reading. Haven't updated my currently-reading for a month...

The Shining meets The Witches of Eastwick?

loving the story but hating the fact that it's printed. On paper! I'm getting too used to my e-readers

I was just listening to a child reading from Jane, the Fox, and Me. She says something about 'the best book ever: it's called Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Bronte, with two dots over the E', and my thought was "which E? I don't remember any dots in Ëyrë". Oh, the ignorance…

I have a few problems with this tale. My library copy has a sticker on it that says "Young Adult", but the characters are having SEX, which doesn't happen in YA. It seemed very anachronistic—©1991, it describes a kind of liberal arts college that I thought was almost dead when I first went to college in 1976. It turns out that only half way through the book does it mention that it's actually set in 1971/72!

I'm determined to finish but it sure it's tedious

I'm pretty sure this is the only traditionally published book I've ever read without page numbers.

I haven't read Birney since high school—so nearly 40 years—and I'm surprised to find how humourous he is.

She's doing it again! "Linda and Ted were taking the children… to Winnipeg where it was 25° cooler" (than Washington DC). C'mon—a really quick Google tells me the average August temperature in Winnipeg is 16-25C, in DC 22-32C. That 7C difference is 13°F. Science just isn't that hard to get right!
