Finished the Williams unfinished part and now want to find the actual poems before reading the Lewis commentary - Morris commentary on the Arthurian tradition from Geoffrey of Monmouth to Malory is very good - sadly he died before he could finish it. It was read to CS Lewis and Tolkien by Williams

Digging in. Brilliant book starts with the hardest o-declension nouns and gives Primitive Irish and Pre Celtic forms. Old Irish is a VSO language which is quite interesting. Mutations similar to Welsh but with some interesting differences. Learning first 50 words - no Immram yet!!!

Andrew Higgins is starting The H. Rider Haggard Omnibus: 50 Novels and Short Stories (Halcyon Classics)
Finished King Solomon's Mines the first of the Quartermain stories. Brilliant and some interesting Tolkienesque themes and characters like Gagol and the armour that deflects all spears. Definately seeimg how this is part of the soup!!!
