Already so cute! All the movie references make me smile. And it's refreshing to read a romance at a similar age and circumstances to the characters 🙌

Couldn't sleep because this fully captivated me. It's been nearly 10 years since I last read Huck Finn, yet Jim is captured here in such glorious, raw detail and with clear references to the original so that I don't feel like I've missed anything. Everett gives the original story a new dimension.

Why am I feeling so emotional listening to John Green talk about stuff??

THIS IS THE YEAR! I've tried to read the whole Discworld books many times...but usually fall off the wagon after 2 or 3. This is the year I stick to it!

So far, Robin's experiences going to college at the arcane Oxford mirror so much that I felt while pursuing higher education and coming to the realization that what I thought was my own personal pursuit of knowledge was twisted up into a political landscape of power, money, politics, and religion. I feel seen and validated in a way I wasn't expecting.
Other reviews are calling it heavy handed...so far I can't agree.

Its giving big 1984 vibes. Loving the footnotes and the levity of the characters names 👌 a little confused rn- is Bib a character created by Feed Mobs / the HT to make a point to the audience?

A lot to think about, but not what I was expecting style-wise for a memoir. Definitely believe this guy does nothing lol but still really confused how this all works for him. Back to reading!

The depth, the style- I am smitten.
I thought the book was ending at 52% as the tone shifted and felt like it had a finality. I got nervous I was going to get bored when the story went on, but Crewe keeps the momentum going smoothly. Emotional and tense rn as Oscar Wilde's trail dissipates. And Catherine's speech- yowch!!

This book is important as it opens a door to important conversations about bodily autonomy, the role of sex and sensuality in people's lives, and how money shapes our relationships with others in our culture.
I finished all the comic parts and am working my way through the dense notes in the end. It is obvious that Brown has done a lot of reading about the topic. I don't know where I will stand until I finish.

I am reminded over and over again of one of my favorite books: Documenting Light. If you love that book, I think you HAVE to pick this one up too!
Also the second 9/11 queer book I've read this year- is 9/11 a new up-and-coming topic for novels in general? In queer lit lately? Or is it just me??

Not sure what is happening? The book's blurb seemed straight forward, but the "conflict" is already resolved and yet the book goes on... I'm cautiously optimistic

Super interesting but a bit repetitive so far. Really liking how the author chose to highlight "low art" like movies and animated features to re-contextualize what it means to "fail." I hope the analysis turns inward at soon and/or challenges the reader to consider their own lives in this new viewpoint

So interesting to jump into this book after years have passed since the last time I read The Great Gatsby in high school. And this book has such a fresh take while remaining true to the original in tone and detail. Dare I say I'm liking it better than the original? I never would have thought, but I am so glad!!! My favorite thing is how McLemore anticipates what I will be expecting then expands upon it. Masterful!

Beyond easy description- this books came to me exactly when I needed it. Gives me that joyful gratitude for books and reading and connection with the world. Like Silas cried when he met Daphne for the first time, I feel a deep catharsis with every minute I spend with this book. White never fails me!

I was immediately drawn to the premise of this book- a self-proclaimed loser reveals her life in a confessional, diary-like narrative style. So far, im not sold everything is as simple as she's trying to make it out to be. It is painfully relatable. I am lucky to get my hands on this out of print English edition from i ter-library loan system- Remember to suppor your local libraries
