"Under the Eaves" by Lavie Tidhar. A short story of unrequited love in a strange circumstance. Culturally and physically.

chap 7. book was on a reccomended reading list. been picking it up now and then. available as a free pdf from mises.org. first couple chapters cover roman and greek political, economic, and legal organization. the following chapter delve into middle ages and now it starting the new world. fascinating alternative look at the juxtaposition and confluence of these three forces in history.

Water Thief by Alastair Reynolds. A nice pics of post something world changing event. Water in short supply. People scurrying to find work to earn credits. And the decision to let someone die of injuries for stealing water.

"Katabasis" by Robert Reed. A tale of a long journey with an interesting cast of characters with intriguing back stories.

"Chitai Heiki Koronbin" by David Moles. Worst short story ever. Tough to follow plot. Flashbacks that confused the mainline and no resolution at the end. Not even a good hanging one.

"Old Paint" by Megan Lindholm. A cute short story of how a surprise gift from the past brings the present generation closer together.

"What Did Tessimond Tell You?" by Adam Roberts. A nice short story that gives an interesting theory on something so simple that scientists were retiring.

Astrophilia by Carrie Vaughn. Nice short story about life after "the fall" and how simple things can be important

"Twenty Lights to 'The Land of Snow'" by Michael Bishop. A slow story I found hard to get into and easy to put down. After finishing it and reflecting on it, it was better than I thought. The story is about the Dali Lama and the monks leaving earth to settle on a new planet. Everything is fine until, of course, the unexpected happens.

Love these graphic novels.

'Macy Minnot's Last Christmas on Dione" by Paul McAuley. A great short story of a widower learning about her estranged husbands last years on an outlier colony and the gift he left her. Brought years to my eyes.

"In the House of Aryaman, a Lonely Signal Burns" by Elizabeth Bear. Great short detective story located in India and dealing with the classic locked room murder scenario.

"Steamgothic" by Sean McMullen. Cute little piece about what could have been.

"The Finite Canvas" by Brit Mandelo. Wow. Great piece dealing with a multiple-layered story and dense character development.

"Close Encounters" by Andy Duncan. A cute short story that harkens back to early SciFi first contact narratives.

"Nightfall on the Peak of Eternal Light" by Richard Lovett and William Gleason. Great moon short story of a man running from his past but perhaps not far enough.

"Holmes Sherlock" by Eleanor Arnason. Short story of an alien culture learning about humanity through translating our books into their language.

"The Girl-Thing Who Went for Sushi". Tough read but pays out at the end. An odd yelling of a tale of self-discovery and rebellion.

Memcordist by Lavie Tidhar. How a life might look like through google glass and twitter in the future

"The Stars Do Not Lie" by Jay Lake. Religion vs Science and control of information.

The Man by Paul McAuley. A thoughtful piece like early Bradbury or Clarke or Heinlein. Rite planet, scattered settlers, a stranger from no where.

Weep for Day. Great short story on how a culture and the youth change perspective of their world over time.
