I love it when it’s cases involving people with a particular expertise who have died doing the very thing they couldn’t possibly have died from. In this case it’s a former Olympic-level rower who somehow was thrown from her Filippi and ended up knocking her head and drowning.

With the pregnant love triangle, this is very reminiscent of The Last of Us Part II.

The good thing about having multiple series to work on (Decker, Puller, Robie & Reel, and Pine) is that you can pull off cameos without it seeming odd. Will Robie was the first series I ever liked by Baldacci and having him show up in the new Decker book is pretty awesome.
